It is almost impossible to be 100% aware of other driver’s actions when you are looking down at your phone to answer a text, even 5 seconds off the road can cause a major and tragic accident.

2. Pull Over
If something is really important the best thing to do is pull over and stop driving instead of trying to take care of something while you are driving. For example, if your toddler is uncontrollably crying because they are hungry, stop and feed them even if you are running late to an appointment. Your safety and lives are more important than being late or even missing an appointment.
In the event of a really important phone call or text message, also pull over and answer it instead of attempting to drive while answering the call or text. Only answer the call if you have Bluetooth enabled and it does not involve you taking both hands off the wheel to answer and speak.
3. Cell Phone Distractions
There are other distractions with your cell phone besides texting and phone calls. One is trying to check the traffic or the weather while you are driving. If this is that important pull your vehicle over and check instead of putting your life in danger.
Trying to post on social media or scroll through your feed is another cell phone distraction that can be avoided. There is no reason to start scrolling while you are behind the wheel. Stop trying to take pictures while you are driving as well, this is silly and can wait or you can pull the car over and take as many pictures as you want without putting yourself and anyone else in the car at risk.
