- Clean walls easily with a wiper
As most of us already know, a clean wall is a must before moving on to painting. If you don’t clean a wall, dust and debris will remain stuck to it, which will, in turn, prevent the paint from setting down onto the surface. This will cause the paint to get damaged and peel off easily. This is crucial for a bathroom painting project since bathroom walls contain mold and mildew as well. But cleaning a wall doesn’t mean you’ll have to painstakingly wipe every corner. Just take a wiper, cover it with a damp cloth, and swipe it from top-to-bottom. In a few strokes, you’ll have a clean and prepped wall.
- Prevent excess paint with a rubber band
When you take your paintbrush out of the paint tin, it tends to be covered in excess paint. This can ruin the immaculate paint job that you have done. The easiest way to prevent this is by attaching a rubber band on top of the open paint tin. This gives you a mechanism to wipe off the paintbrush every time you pick it up and prevents splotches of excess paint. This is also a great way to stop your brush from falling into the paint tin and making a mess.
- Clean brushes easily with vinegar
Cleaning brushes are one of the hardest follow-up tasks after a paint job. The paint tends to dry on to the brushes and it refuses to come off later, especially in the case of oil-based paints which are meant to be water-resistant. However, with the help of some vinegar, you can clean out these brushes with ease. All you have to do is fill a small bucket with strong vinegar and leave the brushes in the liquid. Leave this be for at least an hour. Then, wash the brushes with soap and water, and let them dry. They’ll soon look as good as new.
- Use tape for sharp corners
Painting corners can be very difficult, especially when you want to maintain crisp corners. However, here’s a hack that will make the process a whole lot simpler. All you need to do is get some painter’s tape or masking tape. Put the masking tape on the corners carefully. This will maintain their sharp edge. Then, with the help of an angled brush, apply the paint onto the corners. Let the areas dry completely. Don’t remove the tape hastily as it will ruin your effort. Once the area is completely dry, remove the tape slowly. You’ll then have the sharp corners you want.

- Remove paint drips with a blade
Paint lines and drips are quite common but quite frustrating as well. These unwanted stripes and dots can ruin the beauty of a well-painted wall and make it look weird. But, you can get rid of them with one easy step, and all you need for it is a blade. With the help of a single-sided blade, carefully scrape off the paint lines and drips. This is also a great way to get paint off of floors and furniture. You can also opt for sandpaper, and sand down any drips or blemishes that are on the wall.
- Prevent roller streaks
Roller streaks or layer marks tend to give the walls an unappealing and frankly, ugly look. The overlapping of varied strokes ruins the evenness of the paint. But there’s a simple solution to this as well. The trick is to paint in one direction. Similar to drawing or coloring, following one direction for all your strokes leads to an even distribution of color and prevents streaking. This might be a bit difficult but over time, you’ll get used to the technique.
