10 Homemade Natural Skin Care Recipes

Rohan Mathew

As the world and science progress, there is more evidence that natural skincare is better than the use of synthetic products. Natural recipes have been used for decades, even before the coming of their alternatives. However, although you can use different ways to keep your skin glowing, unhealthy skin is almost always a result of using products that sometimes do more harm than good.

Fortunately, natural recipes are affordable and readily available, whether homemade or not. But because it can also be an uphill task to know the best yet most effective recipes, here are the top ten homemade recipes to start with:

Milk Products

Milk is among the most effective homemade recipes for healthy skin regardless of your skin damage. It could be through soaking your hands into it and applying it on dry skin areas or making milk products you can use for your skincare routines. Whichever way you use it, milk can be a skin softener, moisturizer, and toner.

It contains lactic acid that hydrates and exfoliates your skin. This way, it refreshes your skin and gives it an evident glow. Take two to three cups of whole milk to make a recipe and warm it. Submerge your hands and apply to dry skin areas.

Cocoa Masks

Cocoa is a naturally occurring antioxidant, and because of this, it is a skincare recipe that limits the production of radicals that can damage your skin cells. As a result, you can make cocoa face masks that help repair damaged skin cells. Also, cocoa on your skin softens, clears, and detoxifies it. Ultimately, you experience skin elasticity which helps with fine lines and removes scars.

Take a full tablespoon of cocoa powder for recipes and mix with honey or egg white. Allow the mixture to settle, then apply it to dry skin areas. Allow it also to dry, then rinse. Due to the antioxidants properties, your skin will automatically look smooth and glowing.

Aloe Vera

Despite being a skincare ingredient, Aloe Vera is also helpful in most herbal remedies used in treating topical skin conditions. As a result, Aloe Vera’s healing properties also soften the skin. And more importantly, it contains anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce and prevent skin dryness and burns.  Likewise, Aloe Vera has moisturizing features due to its polysaccharide sugar compound called acemannan which contains skin-hydrating effects. It helps nourish and keeps your skin fresh and glowing.

Oat Face Masks

Grinding a tablespoon or two of oatmeal and adding baking soda with enough water makes an oat paste. This mixture makes an effective skincare recipe when applied to dry and clean skin for a few minutes. Oat also contains acidity and alkalinity features for balancing your skin PH, thus retaining water and other properties. It works as a cleanser and makes the skin glow by limiting oily or dryness.

Blueberry Masks

Like cocoa, blueberry contains antioxidant properties that help soothe and enhance smooth-looking skin. It also protects the skin from the effects of free radicals. This way, you reduce and limit the severity of skin damages, especially those that occur to skin cells caused by free radicals. In addition, blueberry has vitamin C properties that brighten the skin and repair scars and dark spots.

Coconut

Coconut contains fatty lipids that are barriers against skin-damaging elements, whether applied as oil or paste. Therefore, it helps with skin cracks and prevents water loss in the top skin layers. As a result, you get year-round hydrated skin.

Baking Soda Scrubs

With baking soda, you can decide to soak your feet or hands and apply it to dry skin areas. Or, you can also use it for scrubbing anywhere you want to feel its impact. Baking soda prevents rashes and irritations because it contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that help loosen dead skin cells and tissues.

Tea Leaves

Naturally, tea leaves contain vitamin A which slows down the production of sebum and can help fight skin damage caused by acne and sunburns. At the same time, tea leaves contain DNA properties from their folate. These properties influence skin repairs, just like the typical body DNA properties.

Honey Scrubs

Thanks to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, honey is a natural humectant and a moisturizer. Its humectant features keep the skin moist, while its antiseptic properties prevent acne and enlarged pores.

Papaya Scrubs

Naturally, pawpaw has an enzyme called papain which is an effective enzyme that promotes any skin healing and repairing abilities by increasing collagen production. An increase in collagen boosts skin elasticity, thus making it glow and appear healthy.
