The government has brought sweeping changes in the current education system, something which was required from the past few decades to align Indian education with the global education standards.
The 10+2 system of school education has been broken down into the 5+3+3+4 system. The revolutionary steps taken after over three decades are the efforts made to reshape the current educational system so that technology can play a big role in improving and upping the Indian education system, and the new system bears less burden on the students in terms of learning a lot in less amount of time.
Concepts such as e-learning solution, e-learning course today, use of animations and simulations and implementation of various other multimedia concepts to make the learning easy will be encouraged. Thus the current education system has been changed to a format which is convenient, comfortable, and turns out to be effective.
Policy changes
- Changes in preschool and 1st to 2nd grade:
In this system, students falling between the age group of 3 to 8 years will be given foundation education. Post this, children will spend three years in preschool and two years in grades 1 to 2. In these grades, the learning will be in the form of the activities and some sort of play.
Both the play and activities will be smartly devised and conducted so as to attract children’s attention so that they learn and at the same time enjoy different plays and activities. Additionally, they will also focus on good behaviour, respect, gelling and cooperating with each other, including personal and public hygiene. E-learning solutions will be used as children are captivated towards animated films and characters.
New Education Policy Explained
- What will happen in 3 to 5 grades?
Children, between 8 to 11 years, will be in the grades 3 to 5. In this phase, children will move out of activities or play based learning to a more formal but interactive-based learning system. New subjects will be introduced in this phase and a higher focus will be laid on reading, writing and speaking; language; mathematics; science, physical education, etc.
The whole idea of the transition being, students will be introduced to a proper learning system and a small foundation will be laid down, which will help them as they move to higher grades.
- What will be covered in the grades 6 to 8?
The grades 6 to 8, primarily, consist of children falling in the age group of 11 to 14. In these grades, students will be introduced to slightly higher concepts related to mathematics, science, humanities and arts.
Through these, the effort will be to widen the scope of learning related to the abstract concepts using e-learning courseware. In addition, programming will be introduced through e-learning programs.
- What will be covered in the grades 14 to 18?
This secondary phase is divided into further two phases: phase 1 covering grades 1 to 10, and phase 2 covering grades 11 to 12. During these phases, students will learn the basics of higher level concepts in mathematics and science.
These phases will also focus on greater critical thinking; in-depth understanding of different concepts, and greater attention to life aspirations. Programming languages of slightly higher level will be introduced.
This will be done so that students don’t face difficulty when they opt for engineering stream, wherein knowing different programming languages is an added advantage. Technological solutions such as customised elearning solutions will be used in the schools for simplifying and explaining difficult concepts.
How e-learning companies can help schools, institutes and universities?
E-learning companies can help schools, institutes and universities in many ways to incorporate the latest technology as per the curriculum so that the learners can experience enhanced learning. The elearning companies can develop customised e-learning solutions based on the inputs of the schools, institutes and universities.
This may ensure that students get to learn the concepts as per their learning pace and style through various 3-D and 2-D animations, simulations and many examples, with diagrammatic representation and infographics, associated with a concept. These steps will not only simplify learning but also ensure that the students get a thorough understanding of the concepts and they are able to apply them in their internship which the government has introduced for certain grades.
