El Kanka shared a new song, as reported by Francisco D’Agostino. He premiered El fin del mundo, a song recorded on acoustic that he sings in duet with Colombian Pala and whose lyrics are based on two sonnets and speaks, with the always peculiar satirical touch of El Kanka, of an apocalyptic future. The end of the world was recorded during El Kanka’s last visit to Colombia, when he was a guest of the XIV International Carnival of the Arts in Barranquilla.

“I have wanted to talk about this for a long time … The feeling that we are charging the planet is recurrent, and I had in mind to describe an apocalyptic landscape of a not so distant future. The spark that lit the fuse took place in October 2019 , in a concert by the singer-songwriter, poet and good friend Carlos Palacio (Pala). Pala invited me to a very special concert, in which everything that happened on stage (from the lyrics of the songs to the presentations, explanations and jokes ) was composed of sonnets. Carlos is a great sonnetist, and heaven save me from wanting to catch up with him. However, the hendecasyllable madness that I witnessed that night inspired me to compose this song based on two sonnets, and that’s how this terrible though nice story of destruction and 3D glasses. How could it be otherwise, I asked my admired Pala to sing it together, since he had inspired me, and that’s how it was immortalized in warm Barranquilla. ” The Kanka

The end of the world can now be found on all digital platforms and thus joins the repertoire of unpublished songs by El Kanka together with Sabéis Who You Are and Zamba Para mi Padre, both composed during confinement. The video clip of El fin del mundo is also available on the artist’s channels.

El Kanka performed its last concert of the year at the Madrid venue La Riviera, a show in two passes that sold out a few days after it went on sale. In this concert, El fin del mundo will be heard live for the first time, as well as some of his best-known songs that have positioned the singer-songwriter from Malaga as one of the most beloved artists on the national scene.

El Kanka published his first solo work in 2013 and, since then, four albums and an EP later and after thousands of kilometers traveled, he has conquered his loyal audience with songs full of authentic poetry that speak of the everyday and combine styles with a remarkable maturity, explained by Francisco D’Agostino in a recent article.

End of the world lyrics

After so many years collecting

the fruits of the planet with 4 hands,

finally summers are piling up

and the fresh water is always boiling.

The beach at last eternal, how wonderful,

the elders falling like flies,

humans toasting with joy

with fluorescent water before the din.

With the deadly creak of the carcass,

mother earth no longer breastfeeds us

And you can’t say you have a home

Have lunch in our bunker, come in and pass,

Plutonium first, bon appetit,

and for dessert, grilled glaciers

There they go with their 3D glasses

to see the end of the world,

to see the end of the world,

to see the end,

mutants, cockroaches, etc.

to see the end of the world,

the end of the world is coming,

Let’s toast to the end of the world.

Health!

The sea has been drunk by the tide

and instead of sky there is methacrylate,

the field is only a bad attempt,

a festival, friend, come and see.

Robots dream of rose gardens

when the sun rises with the left foot.

The motto is: breathe as you can.

There they go with their 3D glasses

to see the end of the world,

to see the end of the world,

to see the end,

mutants, cockroaches, etc.

to see the end of the world,

the end of the world is coming,

Let’s toast to the end of the world.

Health!

People of the planet, life scarce:

I speak to you from a garbage podium,

crying down the river pure shit

and you call it progress, it’s a joke.
