Digital printing

If you’re ever going to need the services of a printing company, then you’ll probably need digital printing. This is probably the most popular printing service nowadays because it is a fast process and the output is of high quality. One of the biggest advantages of digital printing is that it doesn’t use plates anymore. And unlike offset printing, there’s no complicated setup process. Moreover, digital printing produces minimal waste. This means that digital printing is a money and time saving method. Under digital printing, two major technologies exist: inkjet printing and xerography. Inkjet printing is more commonly used for printing posters, short run printing of books, and signages. Xerography or the use of laser printers, on the other hand, is commonly used for direct mail, brochures, short runs printing of books and other documents.

Offset printing

Offset printing is also called lithography and it is the favorite printing method for high volume printing. Among all the different printing services available, offset printing produces the best results. This kind of printing service uses plates that are run through water and ink. The ink sticks to the spaces where there are images and texts and then water sticks to the blank spaces. One of the disadvantages of this kind of printing is that if you happen to make a mistake with it, it’s not easy to correct it once the plate has been set. There are two kinds of offset printing, sheet-fed and web. In sheet-fed printing, the paper has already been cut. In the web press, the paper is in a roll. Offset printing is used in printing posters, newspapers, magazines, posters, brochures, etc.

Flexography

Flexography is used in printing the labels in plastic and grocery bags. This is a very versatile method of printing and this is why it is used in many different kinds of applications. Currently, it is also the fastest-growing printing process. This method uses flexible relief plates that can be attached to a printing cylinder. It can be considered as an updated version of the letter press, which is the original printing princess that has originally been used in the 15th century. Apart from printing plastic and grocery bags, this method is also used in printing food packaging, gift wrapping paper, wallpapers, magazines, newspaper inserts, etc.

Screen printing

Also known as silk screening, this method is used printing various types of materials including metal, fabric, plastic, paper, and glass. It is the method used in printing mugs, clothing, and billboards. It is considered the most versatile form of printing.
