Stress is stressful, especially when you have no idea what’s going on. After all, how do you know which type of stress you’re experiencing?

Well, you’re not alone. More than three-quarters of the American population suffer from stress on a regular basis. That’s an alarming statistic.

Here’s a list of the most common types and how they’re distinguished.

Psychological Stress

Psychological stress is most common and is caused by factors such as tension and anxiety. You experience it when your life’s negative situations become a burden for you because you feel you have little control.

Physical Stress

In this type, stressors have an effect on your physical well-being and health. The stressor can be physical or psychological, but its effects are usually manifested physically.

Cognitive Stress

Cognitive stress affects your perception of yourself and the world around you, not because it’s an adverse event, but because of how it affects your perception of your situation.

Environmental Stress

This type of stress is caused by environmental conditions, such as loud noises from a busy street or tension in your living environment.

Occupational Stress

It’s caused by the nature of the job, so it’s also known as occupational stress. Occupational Stress is another name for job stress. It refers to an adverse reaction that people experience when exposed to high demands in the workplace. These increased demands can be stressful to some more than others, depending on how well they are equipped psychologically and mentally to handle them.

Acute Stress

Acute stress is caused by particular events and usually lasts for a short period. This type of stress is generally associated with events such as loss or the birth of a baby.

Chronic Stressors

You can be exposed to chronic stressors when you’re in a situation where the demands placed on you are out of your control. Chronic stress is more common in workplaces where there’s little room for growth.

Different Types of Stress Relief

Of course, there are many ways of getting rid of stress. Meditation is one of the oldest and most common ways to de-stress. For some, intense sporting activities can also provide a great sense of relief from stress.

Not only that, there are more modern techniques that can also be used. Neurodivergent people like those with ADHD and ASD find playing videogames an excellent way to de-stress.

And, from a biological perspective, Bioenergetic Testing, such as that offered at creatingbalancedhealth.com, is a great way to help alleviate your stresses. It helps pinpoint the issues behind the cause of the stress, such as malnutrition other health conditions.

Stress Shouldn’t Be Stressful

Suppose your home or work environment is causing you a lot of anxiety. In that case, it’s better to go over your plans to get away and talk with your loved ones. That way, they can help you relax when work’s over.
