Sagging breasts are something that most women will have to face at one point or another throughout their lives. If you happen to be dealing with that right now, undergoing a breast lift surgery might have come across your mind already. Whether you’re searching for breast lift Newport Beach, or looking to get a breast lift in another part of the world, here’s what you need to know.

What Is A Breast Lift Surgery?

People often mistake breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries as being the same thing. However, that’s not the case at all. Think of it as having a facelift, but for the breasts. They both focus on making you look younger.

Breast lifts focus more on the shape of the breasts, by removing sagging, or excess skin, reshaping breast tissue, as well as raising the areola and nipple creating a more youthful, feminine appearance.

Whereas, breast augmentations center around increasing the size of the breasts. Now, one more thing to note here, is that breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries can be combined in order to achieve the desired shape as well all as size.

Types Of Breast Lift Surgeries

There is a wide variety of techniques surgeons can use when performing a breast lift surgery. The type of techniques the surgeon is going to perform will be determined based on the amount of excess skin that has to be removed, the existing breast tissue, and what the patient wants to achieve. With that being said, let’s take a look at what types of breast lift surgeries are there.

1. The Crescent Lift

This is a minimally invasive procedure, that is recommended for people who only experience a slight form of sagging. This type of surgery is done with a single incision that runs along the top outer edge of the areola. The scar is barely visible due to the fact that it is hidden within the darker pigment of the areola.

2. The Peri-Areolar Lift

This technique is usually applied to women who experience mild sagging. The way the peri-areolar lift works is by making a circular incision around the edge of the areola, hence the name. Besides eliminating sagging skin, this procedure can also reduce the size of the areola itself.

3. The Vertical Lift

Now, this method is slightly more invasive than the other two we’ve just mentioned. This is applied to women who are experiencing a moderate form and require more reshaping.

As opposed to the crescent lift and the peri-areolar lift, this procedure involves two incisions. A circular one around the edge of the areola and a vertical one that starts from the bottom of the areola and goes all the way down to the inframammary fold.

4. The Anchor Lift

This is the most extensive form of breast lift surgery. It involves three incisions: one around the edge of the areola, one from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease, and one across the inframammary fold. Keep in mind that this type of procedure will result in some visible scarring. However, with proper care, these scars will minimize overtime.

How Do You Know You Need A Breast Lift?

Well, the best way to figure out whether you need a breast lift, or not is by consulting with a certified plastic surgeon. After all, there are plenty of things to be considered when deciding to go under the knife, such as your medical history, the current size, shape, and positioning of your breasts, and your goals. Things that are best talked about with a surgeon.

However, before making an appointment, there are still some things that tell you whether you actually need a breast lift or not. For example, check if your nipples are pointing downward, or if they sit below the crease under your breast.
