You must also know the type of cleaner you are using to know which specific minerals it will work for.

  • Choosing a Cleaner

First of all, you should choose a reliable resin cleaner for your water softener. It must be suitable for your specific type of commercial water softener. If you end up making the wrong choice, the cleaner might cause a drastic effect on your water softener instead of cleaning it. You should make sure that the cleaner you buy is specially designed to get rid of mineral build-ups. It is better if the cleaner you choose focuses on a single element as it will be able to do its job more efficiently this way. • Shutting off

You must shut off the system of commercial water softener by using the bypass valve. It is located on the top of the water softener. It will help stop the supply of water to the softener and tank. You should also unplug all hoses and connections between the valve and tank.

  • Pouring

When it comes to pouring the cleaner, you should add the recommended dose after reading the instructions on the package carefully. You can also pour the cleaner into the salt tank, however, make sure that the salt level is at its lowest point while you do so.

  • Repeating Regeneration Process

You can find a knob located on the commercial softeners to control the regeneration process. You should rotate the knob counterclockwise to turn the mode on. The water flow will get reversed after the system goes to recovery mode. It will allow the system to rinse the tank to clear the leftover debris. A sodium-rich solution would be released then to clean the tank from the resin beads. You can also repeat the regeneration process to get rid of the remaining debris in the tank. You should turn it on once again if you feel there is a layer of calcium or iron in the tank. The point is to stay persistent and keep repeating the process before you move to the next step.

  • Using Brush and Garden Hose

You can use a brush to clean the inside material of the tank properly by dipping it into the solution. Make sure that you give special attention to the corners and base of the tank as they might be covered with a hard layer of salt. Also, you should be somewhere in the yard to dispose of the rinse water carefully. As there will be residual salt in the tank, it can harm the garden or grass. It is better if you dig a hole in the yard to let the salty water flow inside it.

  • Reconnecting the Tank to Softener

Once you are done with the regeneration process, you need to reconnect the tank to the softener by turning the bypass valve on. At that point, you can rejoin all the removing parts of the water softener as well. After switching back to the normal mode, you should run the water through the tank to rinse out the cleaning solution properly.

  • Using Water Softener Filter

The filter is also an essential part of the commercial water softener that you should have to improve the life and health of your system. It depends upon the type of dirt and the way you use the softener that how quickly the filter starts getting dirty. It is better if you use disposable filters than reusable ones as they continue to filter for longer. If you still plan to go for reusable filters, you should know the right procedure to clean them. If you follow the directions given by the company, it will help enhance the life expectancy of your filter to make them work more efficiently. You can also hire a professional cleaning service at any point in the cleaning process if you feel like it is not your cup of tea.
